When you're expecting baby, the question of ideal weight comes up quickly. Expectant mothers want to ensure the health and well-being of their little one while avoiding taking extra pounds that would be hard to lose after giving birth. Here are some ways that may well allow you to reconcile serenely ideal weight and pregnancy.
The ideal weight recommended for each trimester of pregnancy
- During the first quartermorphological transformations often go unnoticed. In general, only the belly rounds slightly. The chest, on the other hand, can win up to a cup size. Naturally, the weight varies from one woman to another, but usually they take between 1.5 and 2.5 kg during the first trimester.
- During the second trimester, the body sports new rounded shapes. Baby grows and the volume of amniotic fluid and placenta increases. Also, expectant mothers take on average 4.5 kilos.
- The third quarter is usually characterized by increased weight gain: up to 2 kg per month. The reasons are simple: the frequency of physical activities is quite low; the feelings of hunger become more intense; the retention of water and the reserves of fat masses increase.
- To know your ideal weight, refer to the beginning of pregnancy to your body mass index which is calculated as follows: weight / (height x height). The principle is simple: if it is less than 20, your ideal weight gain during pregnancy can reach 17 kg. If your BMI is between 20 and 25, you are advised to take between 11 and 14 kg. If it is greater than or equal to 25, make sure your weight gain is between 8 and 12 kg. If, on the other hand, it is greater than 30, you are advised not to take more than 9 kg throughout your pregnancy.

- Monitoring your weight when you are pregnant is essential. Indeed, too much weight gain can have consequences on baby's health. There is, for example, a significant risk of developing gestational diabetes: the baby grows too quickly and can be born with a slight overweight.
